IOCB Prague has developed new substances for cancer treatment based on stopping the metabolism of glutamine.
An international science team at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB Prague) and Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA) has prepared and tested new substances for cancer treatment that are effective through stopping the metabolism of glutamine. Their promising results attracted investors who have decided to support the development of new drugs with the amount of $ 40 million. Further development and clinical testing of the new drug will be led by the newly established spin-off company. Clinical trials of these new substances should begin in 2019 and will last for at least 5 years.
