Technology Mission to Korea

A delegation of Czech researchers and company representatives led by CzechInvest visited South Korea from 19 to 23 September 2016. The technology mission was undertaken in connection with the action plan signed by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and South Korean President Park Geun-Hye in February 2015. The two-year pact between the countries is a guarantee of cooperation in the areas of science and research.

The mission had the purpose of supporting the development of cooperation in the areas of optics and laser systems. While in South Korea, Czech firms and institutions presented progressive technologies and the research potential of the Czech Republic. The offered possibilities included, for example, development of high-performance laser systems, optomechanical components for laser systems and modifications of optical materials.

During the week, representatives of Czech companies and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic met with representatives of LG and other global leaders in the fields of electrical engineering and manufacturing of displays and optical components, such as EO Technics and Haesung Optics. The programme was concluded with a visit to research institutes in the city of Gwangju, where photonics research is concentrated.
